About Us

Bob and Lauren

Generate excitement

Hello, we are The RV Calvary aka Lauren and Bob. We love camping and with as many people as possible.

So bring on the camping cavalry!!

Lauren and Bob come from far different backgrounds when it comes to camping. But we found neutral ground, and it became our passion. We do have one common denominator, though. We were both previously married and had our children during those marriages. Our oldest daughters were best friends, then one thing led to another, and here we are, a blended family. And we really would not have it any other way. We have three beautiful daughters, and we, like many families, made it all work.

Bob is Italian, Spanish, and a little bit Native American (Spanish men in Florida often took on Seminole women as their brides. Bob's great grandfather married his great grandmother, a Seminole Indian). Bob likes the ’70s, and 80’s rock, country, jazz and has been camping for more than 40 years. Bob tent camped and basically boon-docked deep in the Florida wilderness with his friends for most of his camping life. They would go on extended excursions where they would either hike or canoe for miles to their camping destinations. These camping locations were on private untouched land which comprised of over well over 290,000 acres. This land stretches through four counties in Florida. They would go on these trips for sometimes more than a weeks at a time (or until they ran out of alcohol). Now, this was way before we had cell phones. The camping trips were so remote that if anything were to happen medically, they would have been in a lot of trouble. So, for food, they basically hunted and ate what they found in the woods. By the way, some of Bob’s friends are really backwoods or what they call today survivalists.

Bob was not introduced into camping at actual campgrounds and certainly not RV Resorts until much later in his life. This form of camping was considered taboo. However, even though this group of lifelong friends was getting married and starting to have families, they still enjoyed camping. They tried to desperately hold onto their roots, roughing it wherever they could. After they each got married and had children, you can imagine this changed drastically.

Lauren is Spanish, English, and a little bit of Cherokee. Lauren likes country music, pop, and some hip hop. However, before she met, Bob she had only been camping once in her life. She went camping with her father and her cousins up in Arkansas in a tent, and she did not like it at all. So, she had no intentions of doing it again. Laurens vision of camping was she loved nature but did not want it to touch her, and she made that noticeably clear. Watching nature on television from the comforts of a very nice hotel on the beach was her version of camping.

Bob made clear that he and his girls loved spending time in the outdoors. In fact, Lauren's daughter went camping with Bob and his daughters from time to time before they were married. Lauren finally broke down and decided that she would try camping. Now at this time, Bob had a pop-up camper, and Bob made sure to take her to a nice county campground on the beach. First impressions are lasting impressions which was Bob's intent. The campground had all the typical amenities, and she really enjoyed it. Like fishing, Bob had set the hook; now, he just had to reel her in. The second campground was Disney’s Fort Wilderness campground. Of course, it's Disney, and she loved it as well. It worked, and the rest was history.

Over the years, we camped in hundreds of locations with that old pop-up, but she was a lot of work. Then we finally broke down and purchased a new travel trailer in July of 2020. There was a lot of adjusting to do, but our only regret is that we did not do it earlier.

There has been a lot of learning lessons over the years, mostly through a lot of trial and error, unfortunately. We also have a lot of friends that have been camping for decades. Many of our friends are full-timers, and some are like us weekend warriors.

We welcome you along with us on our journey and look forward to interacting with all of you. And hopefully getting to meet each of you in person throughout adventures.

Most people do not understand this love we all have for camping. And we also cannot fully describe it. But there is no better place to be than by a campfire.

Thank you all.

Florida State Park's Boardwalk's

Many of the Florida State Parks have very well maintained boardwalks along their trails. Come and join us through these adventures.

Yeah, we have gotten much older over the years, but our hearts are still young. And we love visiting and exploring new places throughout this great country we call home.
