2 – way radios are very important when backing or pulling through your campsites. You have another person guide you back watching for low tree limbs and your RV swing. They are also important in areas that do not have cell service. The purpose of going camping is to get away. Many of the places that we go do not have cell service. These are great to have in case of an emergency and/or to monitor weather situations with the NOAA radio. These have 11 weather stations with a
Emergency's do happen and you want to be prepared in case you are ever in one. Camping in the outdoors and away from medical care is no place to be without a solid first aid kit. Hopefully you never have to use it.
Roadside flares are another must have. And unfortunately, we have had to use them, and we have learned from not having a good set of flares. We have been stuck on the side of the road for over 10 hours in the past. These are bright and rechargeable. In fact, in an emergency, you recharge them in your tow vehicle or your camper. I charge ours before every trip.
This kit has bailed us out of some situations on more than one occasion. I cringe every time we drive through road construction or see debris on the road. It is very easy to pick up a nail that falls off a truck carrying debris or materials. This kit can get you and your family to a safe location quickly.
It is never fun sitting on the side of the road, and its dangerous. It is important that you are highly visible to passing traffic. We unfortunately have tested these many times and passing tractor trailers will not blow these over. They are tried and true. I hope you never have to use them but they are good to have just in case.
We don't like to play around when it comes to flashlights. And I don't want to have to ask the question of how old the batteries are. We have one of these in every vehicle and several in the camper. They work in the rain and we keep them charged up. Ours are over 5 years old and still working fine. In fact we use some them every single day.
Changing a tire on the side of the road is dangerous. Get your family as far off of the shoulder as possible and make sure you are visible both day and night. Always have a safety vest. This one works for day and is reflective at night.
You will need a jack. And bottle jacks are great and compact for storage. We have used bottle jacks for years. Make sure to always use precautions and carry a few pieces of 2" x 6" wood to help stabilize the jack. Never lift on an un-even surface.
This is a complete game changer. I have used this several times when repacking our bearings etc. This little gadget adds a lot of stability to your bottle jack. This is the one that we have its made in the USA and has a much better design than other bottle jack cradles that we have used in the past.
Jack stands take up room and are a pain to lug around, until you need them. They are needed for added safety. When you are on the side of the road changing a tire, and trucks are cars are flying by they will shake your RV. And this movement can make your bottle jack or any jack fail. Don't take that chance.
Having an air compressor is very important when your camping. Being able to change a tire, plug a tire and add air to a tire when your miles away from the nearest gas station is not fun. But if you have a compressor you will be glad you did. We have had to use our compressor on many occasions and we have no regrets.
